Hybrid Metamaterials Perfect Absorber and Sensitive Sensor in Optical Communication Band

A subwavelength metamaterial perfect absorber (MPA) in optical communication band was proposed and tested using the finite-difference time-domain method. The is periodic comprises a top layer of diamond silicon surrounded by L-shaped gold on substrate. It can achieve dual-band absorption, one peaks band. By changing gap (g) between two adjacent pieces silicon, thickness (h) layer, resonance wavelength absorption peak be tuned. When incident electromagnetic wave entered absorber, could almost completely consume waves, thereby achieving more than 99% absorption. reaches 99.986% at 1310 nm 99.421% 1550 nm. Moreover, MPA exposed to different ambient refraction indexes applied as plasma sensors, multi-channel with high figure merit (FOM*) value refractive index (RI) sensitivity. FOM* values are 6615 168, respectively, both have highly RI results confirm that dual-band, polarization-independent, wide-angle insensitive angle.
